Recent Updates

We are pleased to share the latest progress on our new school build. The project is now in the Enabling Works phase — a 24-week programme running from 19 January to 10 July 2026, preparing the site ahead of the main construction. Below you will find details on the current activities taking place.

02 Apr

Easter Holiday Works & Business Block Preparation

Work continues to progress well across the site during the Easter holiday period, with a number of key activities taking place:

  • Drainage and service diversion works at the rear of the school have been completed.
  • The Business block is being cleared and prepared ahead of its upcoming demolition.
  • Groundwork preparation for the temporary classroom accommodation continues to progress.
  • Installation of the bridge between the main school and the Millennium Block is progressing well.

Millennium Block Bridge Installation & Continuing Site Works

Work continues to progress well across the site this week, with all ongoing activities from previous weeks continuing.

  • Installation of the Millennium Block bridge has started..
  • Aggregate deliveries continue to support the ongoing groundworks across the site.
  • Cleaning of the boiler room remains ongoing.

KSVA Demolition, Footpath Works & Aggregate Delivery

Significant progress has been made this week with the demolition of the KSVA building taking place on Tuesday 17 March. Alongside this, several other key works are continuing across the site.

  • The KSVA building was demolished on Tuesday 17 March as part of the ongoing site clearance programme.
  • Footpaths from the front of school through to the Millennium Block have been tarmacked and re-opened for use by staff and students.
  • Tarmac works across the site have been completed.
  • Delivery of aggregates has taken place to support the next phase of groundworks’
  • Cleaning of the boiler room continues as part of the enabling works programme.

Portacabin Clearance, Hoarding Installation & Drainage Works

Work continues across multiple areas of the site this week, with a number of visible changes taking shape around the school grounds.

  • A full survey and clearance of the portacabin has been carried out in preparation for its upcoming demolition.
  • Work is progressing on the new footpath adjacent to the service road between Art and Science, improving access across the site for staff and students.
  • A new path around the rear of the Millennium Block has also started, further enhancing safe movement around the school.
  • The hoardings at the front of school have been completed and painted.
  • Drainage works are being carried out over the weekend to minimise disruption during the school week.
  • Road widening continues to provide improved contractor access to the back field area.
  • Cut and fill operations on the back field remain ongoing throughout the week as ground preparation for the new build progresses.

Compound Relocation, Chimney Demolition & Road Works

Another busy week on site with several key milestones reached and ongoing works continuing across the school grounds.

  • The staff car park has been formally handed back over and is now fully available for use.
  • The contractor compound has been relocated from the tennis courts, which have been cleaned and handed back to the school for use.
  • Chimney demolition took place on 28 February as part of the ongoing site preparation works.
  • Road widening continues to accommodate construction traffic, with the existing footpath being maintained to ensure safe access for students throughout.
  • A new footpath is being provided along the access road between Science and Art to enhance safety for pedestrians.
  • A new site storage compound is being created at the rear of the Millennium Block.
  • Cut and fill works on the back field continue throughout the week as part of the ground preparation for the new build.

Site Progress & Fencing Installation

We are pleased to share further progress on the new school build, with several key developments taking place across the site as preparations continue for the next phase of construction.

  • Staff car park alterations have now been fully completed and handed back over for use.
  • Works on the back field are continuing to progress as part of the preparation for the new build. Groundworks remain ongoing, with the area being levelled and readied for the next phase of construction activity.
  • Installation of more permanent site fencing is currently underway. This will enhance site security, clearly define construction zones, and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors as the project moves forward.

Enabling Works Progress Update

We are pleased to share further progress on the enabling works phase of the new build.

  • The extension to the overspill car park has now been fully completed, providing additional capacity and improved traffic flow during peak times. This will help to ease congestion at the start and end of the school day.
  • At the rear of the site, topsoil has been removed from the back field and taken off site in preparation for the next phase of groundworks.
  • The new vehicle gates have been completed, enhancing site access and overall security. These will support improved traffic management and controlled entry to the school grounds.
  • Significant surfacing works have also been carried out, with tarmacking completed to the rear of the school, at the top of Storth Lane, and within the front car park, creating safer and more durable surfaces across key access areas.
  • Finally, BAM have now moved into their site cabins located on the front field, establishing their on-site base as the main construction phase progresses.

Demolition of T4 Classroom & Back Field Works Begin

The T4 classroom has been demolished this week as part of the ongoing site clearance. Work has also begun on the back field, with preparation underway to support the next stages of the enabling works programme.

Temporary Classroom E15 Demolished

The temporary classroom block E15 has been successfully demolished as part of the ongoing enabling works. This is a key milestone in preparing the site for the new build, freeing up space for the construction programme to progress.

Weeks 1–4: Site Setup & Early Works (19 January – 20 February)

The first four weeks of the enabling works programme focus on establishing the construction site and carrying out essential preparation works across the school grounds. Key activities during this period include:

  • Set up traffic management to work on exit gate
  • Set up contractor site cabins and welfare
  • Provide gateman hut
  • Segregate walkway to 3G pitch
  • Fencing erected
  • Large plant deliveries
  • Trimming of trees throughout site
  • Remove decking area and soil, flatten to ground level
  • Erect scaffolding for roof works
  • Demolition of portacabin E15
  • Fill in potholes on lane toward 3G pitch
  • Create contractor site and parking adjacent to 3G pitch
  • Extend school car park adjacent to 3G pitch
  • Cleaning of boiler house and substation
  • Widen service road
  • Strip top soil from back field for construction of site footpath
  • Divert utilities from back of school across roof
  • Create trench for water connection
  • Relocate contractor cabins to new area adjacent to 3G pitch
