Wales High School

Parent Voice

An open forum for families to share ideas, celebrate what's working, and help shape the future of Wales High School. Because when parents and school work together, everyone benefits.

What We Do

Wales Parent Voice meets four times a year for a one-hour session focused on working together to help improve our school. Each meeting centres on a theme chosen by parents and provides an open, welcoming forum where families can share what is working well and where we can continue to grow.

Our sessions take place after school in the Sixth Form cafeteria, where parents can enjoy teas, coffees and cakes while taking part in meaningful discussion.

With each meeting themed around topics that matter most to families, Parent Voice ensures that the conversation is always relevant and parent-led. It’s a genuine partnership — parents sharing their perspective, and the school listening and acting on that feedback.

You Said, We Did

Real changes driven by real conversations. Here’s how Parent Voice feedback has shaped school life.

When the timings of the school day were reviewed, parents raised concerns that a slightly shorter lunch break might limit students’ access to quieter spaces or extra-curricular activities.

We Did

We ensured that PE and Music staff were available to collect students promptly so that activities such as choir, 3G sessions and other sports could continue without disruption. Our House Team also introduced a range of lunchtime activities to make sure students still had plenty of choice and opportunities to get involved.

Parents wanted the Home Communication Log to be clear, simple and easy to understand at a glance.

We Did

Wales Parent Voice supported us in designing a format that is clear, simple and parent-friendly. The new layout ensures all key information is easy to find and understand.

When enrichment lessons were introduced for KS3 students, families appreciated hearing about the exciting activities but felt that the student choice process was a little rushed. They asked whether the enrichment brochure could be shared in advance.

We Did

As a result of this feedback, the enrichment brochure is now uploaded to Bromcom ahead of the selection window, giving students and families time to make more considered decisions together.

Progress Evening Survey

At our Progress Evenings we ask families to share their views. The figures below show the percentage of parents and carers who agreed with each statement, by year group.
