Students attend a range of age appropriate assemblies throughout the academic year based on supporting personal development, National and local themes.
The assembly rota is planned at the start of the academic year so it is carefully sequenced to support students and their personal development, alongside other PSHE and active tutorial sessions that may be taking place.
Each week, selected topics may be followed up by supporting active tutorial work where tutors and co-tutors will be able to assess students’ understanding of the material covered, answer any relevant questions and correct any misconceptions.
Throughout the year, each year group will have a range of celebration and rewards assemblies to celebrate the achievements of our students. It is important to recognise all achievements which may include academic work, excellent attendance, supporting others, community work and excellent Attitude to Learning – to name a few! Students receive a wide range of prizes, from vouchers, achievement points, chocolates and certificates.
A particular highlight, and a Wales High School tradition is the ‘Full School Assembly’ where the entire school assemble in our sports halls. Our students affectionately refer to it as the “Full School Squash”! This is a unique event, which we celebrate 4 times per year – certainly a proud Wales High School tradition!
