This year, our school community has come together once again to celebrate Pride Month, recognising and embracing the diversity that makes our school such a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.

The Rainbow Bridge Installation for Pride
One of the most striking additions to this year’s celebrations has been the beautiful rainbow installation displayed on the Art Bridge. Bringing the rainbow indoors has transformed the space into a colourful and inspiring feature for students, staff, and visitors alike. As the summer sunshine streams through the windows, the installation creates a stunning display of colour, serving as a daily reminder of the importance of inclusion, acceptance, and celebrating individuality.

Our Sixth Form students have also played a leading role in this year’s events by taking charge of the Pride merchandise stall in the Welcome Entrance. They have been selling a range of Pride-themed badges and flags, raising both awareness and funds for our chosen charity, Just Like Us. The charity works to support LGBT+ young people across the UK and helps schools create environments where all students can thrive. We are incredibly proud of all of our volunteers for their enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication to this important cause.

As part of our educational programme for Pride Month, Key Stage 3 assemblies were planned for the final week of June. Unfortunately, due to the exceptionally warm weather, these assemblies have had to be postponed. However, the themes and messages remain as important as ever. This year’s focus has been on diversity within our society, encouraging students to celebrate differences, appreciate the value of every individual, and understand how they can be effective allies to members of the LGBT+ community.
The assemblies also explore the significance of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal moment in the history of LGBT+ rights that helped spark a global movement for equality and acceptance. Students are encouraged to reflect on how far society has come while also recognising that there is still work to be done before true equality is achieved for everyone. Through these discussions, we hope to inspire understanding, empathy, and respect throughout our school community.

To round off the celebrations, staff gathered at the Welcome Entrance dressed in their brightest rainbow colours in a visible show of support for our LGBT+ students, colleagues, families, and wider community. The display of colour and solidarity highlighted our shared commitment to creating a school where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to be themselves.

Pride Month provides an important opportunity to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and reflect on the positive role each of us can play in building a kinder and more accepting society. We would like to thank all students and staff who have contributed to this year’s celebrations and helped make Pride Month such a meaningful and memorable occasion.
