Wales High School is proud to have been awarded the Bronze Anti-Racist School Award, recognising our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive school where every student feels valued, respected and supported.
The award recognises the work taking place across the school to embed anti-racist practice into our leadership, staff development, school environment and curriculum.
Over the past two years, we have strengthened our approach to identifying and responding to discriminatory incidents, invested in staff training and reviewed our curriculum to improve representation and develop students’ understanding of race, racism and equality.
Student voice has played an important role in shaping this work, helping us to review policies, improve communication and create a stronger sense of belonging across our school community.
Achieving Bronze is an important milestone and reflects the commitment of our staff, governors and students to making a positive difference. The award also provides a framework for continued development, with a focus on strengthening partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community.
Miss Lisa McCall said: “I’m incredibly proud of Wales High School achieving this award. Being an inclusive school isn’t about having the right words on a policy or a poster on a wall, it’s about what we do, the conversations we have and how we treat people every single day. Over the past two years, our staff and students have worked really hard to make sure that everyone feels they belong, that their voice matters and that discrimination is challenged. Bronze is a fantastic milestone, but what makes me proudest is the work behind it and the commitment of our school community to keep getting better. We know there is more to do, and we will continue to listen, learn and take action to make Wales a place where every young person feels they belong and can thrive”.
We recognise that there is always more to do, and we remain committed to learning, listening and taking meaningful action to ensure Wales High School is a place where everyone can thrive.
