Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage 4
The Key Stage 3 curriculum at Wales allows students to gain a secure knowledge base in either French or Spanish in preparation for GCSE study. At Key Stage 4 we extend familiar topics previously covered and build on key grammar concepts in studying the 5 key themes of the curriculum. By the end of Key Stage 4 students are equipped with communication skills that they can take on into the wider world, skills which are in demand from colleges and employers alike.
Students are examined in the four key areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing with external examinations at the end of Year 11. There will be no final decision on tier of entry until Year 11 and this decision will be made with the best interests of the student at heart.
