Geology at Key Stage 5
Geology is currently only offered as an A Level qualification at Wales. Taught by Miss Caldwell and supported by Mr McNulty, we aim to produce well-informed, versatile and resilient students who are committed to achieving their full potential. We recognise that this requires profound commitment from staff, which is why our doors, and our minds, are always open!
Students will study the OCR specification, building on the geographical, mathematical and scientific skills they have developed in a range of subjects over Key Stages 3 and 4. Students will also acquire new skills that are essential for any successful Geologist such as geological mapping, fieldwork techniques and performing practical experiments. Alongside classroom teaching, our A Level Geology students undertake fieldwork on the Isle of Arran – an aspect of the course that students find both stimulating and rewarding, as well as enjoying talks from industry experts.
