Restart a Heart Day at Wales High School
Wales High School is proud to be teaming up with South Yorkshire Ambulance Service to raise awareness of the Restart a Heart (RSAH) campaign, an annual initiative led by the Resuscitation Council UK.
The campaign aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by helping more people learn CPR and become ResusReady.
We’re delighted to welcome the South Yorkshire Ambulance team to school on Thursday, 16th October, when they will be delivering CPR training to our Year 8 students.
Throughout the day, there will be a range of heart health–focused activities, including:

Welcome entrance: Music, house activity, and collecting pennies in support of South Yorkshire Ambulance.

House activity: Raising awareness of heart health and increasing heart rate — plus a friendly fundraising competition.

RISE session: All students will watch a CPR video from South Yorkshire Ambulance and practice correct depth and speed to the “Staying Alive” song.
Our Year 12 students will also be taking part in RevivR CPR training on Restart the Heart Day! CPR is an emergency lifesaving procedure, performed when the heart stops beating, often called a cardiac arrest. It is necessary to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest. Each year over 40,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. Less than 1 in 10 survive. Giving CPR promptly and using a defibrillator can more than double someone’s chance of survival. RevivR is British Heart Foundations free, interactive, online CPR training course. In just 15 minutes, students can learn how to save a life and receive their very own CPR certificate. We are really excited to increase our number of sixth form students who are CPR trained and have our amazing role models to deliver this to students lower down in school.
