Science at Key Stage 5
Studying KS5 Science at Wales, students will learn about the way the world around them works and develop essential skills. This opens up opportunities for them in the full range of pure and applied fields of study available with many of our students going on to study at the country’s leading higher education institutions and careers in the science field.
Students opt to study either an A Level subject over a two-year period or combinations of science subjects following the AQA specifications, BTEC L3 Applied Science Extended Certificate or BTEC Forensic and Criminal investigation. These subjects deepen students understanding of key concepts in biology, chemistry, and physics. All students are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes, and uses of science.
Students will leave us having become more employable, with the cultural capital to engage with the Science they encounter in the future and with many of them choosing to continue their studies at university or as part of an industrial apprenticeship.
