Business at Key Stage 5
The department offers a wide range of KS5 qualifications, with a view to being able to provide options at Level 3 for all students, regardless of their learning style.
We offer a broad curriculum, with seven qualifications ranging from traditional A Levels, to vocational and Industry developed options.
The qualifications offer students the chance to specialise in one particular area of business such as Economics, Accounting and Finance or to continue to study under the Business Studies ‘umbrella’, whether that be A-Level or vocational.
We have specialist Accounts and Economics teachers in the department who can work with students to maximise their full potential, and to ensure they are fully prepared for life beyond school.
As is the case in key stage 4, support is available in and out of lesson time with time dedicated not only to study, but also helping students to map their pathway into higher education and apprenticeships, and into the world of work.
Our suite of subjects also offer a recovery pathway, where students can achieve a qualification with UCAS point’s equivalent to an A Level in a single year of study.
We build meaningful relationships with our students, with many returning year on year to support open evenings and Business based events, whilst others are also able to provide subject specific input and visits.
Our A Level courses in Accounting, Economics and Business Studies all follow the AQA Specification, whilst the two vocational Business qualifications follow the Cambridge Technical Level 3 specification. Completing the suite of options is our Finance qualifications, both of which follow the London Institute of Banking and Finance Specification.
