Students at Wales High School are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE and Level 2 results, with improvements across many of the school’s headline figures.
Results Day began with the inevitable mixture of nerves, anticipation and uncertainty. However, those feelings quickly turned to excitement and pride as students opened their envelopes and discovered the grades they had worked so hard to achieve.
Across the year group, there were some excellent individual performances, with students achieving highly across a wide range of subjects.
Outstanding Individual Achievements

Deserving of special mention is Jasmine L, who achieved an outstanding eight grade 9s and one grade 8.
Sophia C also achieved an exceptional set of results, with six grade 9s and three grade 8s. Miles J achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7, while Beth H achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.
Also achieving highly were Zack B, with two grade 9s and six grade 8s; Charlotte M, with two grade 9s, one grade 8 and four grade 7s; Serena A, with one grade 9, two grade 8s and four grade 7s; and Sena Bekir, with three grade 8s and three grade 7s.
Headteacher, Miss McCall, said:
“Results Day is always such a special moment. You see students arrive carrying five years of hard work, hope and, inevitably, a fair amount of nervousness. Then you see the faces of students who have achieved what they set out to achieve, and that is what makes today so fantastic.
“I am particularly proud of this cohort. They have attended well, worked hard and shown real determination throughout their five years at Wales High School. These results are a credit to them and to the commitment they have shown.
“It has also been wonderful to see so many students confidently taking their next steps. Many will be joining our Sixth Form, while others are heading to specialist colleges, schools or provisions to pursue specific ambitions. What matters most is that they are moving towards something that is right for them.
“Every result represents countless lessons, conversations, encouragement and moments when a member of staff has helped a young person believe they could achieve more. I am incredibly proud of the teaching and support our students have received.
“Abraham Lincoln famously said, ‘The best way to predict the future is to create it.’ Today, our students are doing exactly that. They have worked hard to create the opportunities that come next, and they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
“To our students, congratulations. Enjoy today, celebrate with your families and be proud of yourselves. You have earned it!”
The school looks forward to welcoming many of its Year 11 students back in September as they begin their post-16 studies in Sixth Form, while wishing all students every success as they take the next step towards achieving their individual ambitions.
Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students on their achievements, and we wish them every success for the future!
