World Book Day and Read for Good Week at Wales High School

 

Get ready for a week filled with excitement as World Book Day and Read for Good Week take center stage at Wales High School! We’ve lined up a range of fun and engaging activities for both students and staff to enjoy, making this year’s celebration even more memorable.

Staff Fancy Dress Competition and Bingo Card

On Thursday morning, students will receive Bingo Cards at the Welcoming Entrance, with the challenge of spotting as many book characters as they can throughout the day. Don’t forget to take part in the Staff Fancy Dress Competition, where students will vote for the best costume! It’s sure to be a fun-filled and creative competition!

Story Raids

Throughout Thursday, Story Raiders will be visiting classrooms to read short stories to students. It’s a great opportunity for students to enjoy a quick tale and be inspired by the world of books!

StarBooks Café in the Library

On Thursday, we’ll be hosting StarBooks Café in the library, giving students the chance to enjoy a cosy, café-style experience while diving into their favourite books.

Author & Illustrator Workshop with Keir Birch

Don’t miss Keir Birch, who will be running an exciting author and illustrator workshop in the library. Students can expect to be inspired by Keir’s unique approach to storytelling and illustration.

World Book Day Tokens

Students will receive World Book Day tokens on Thursday, which they can exchange for a free book at selected booksellers. Make sure to collect yours!

Book Swap Shop

From Monday to Wednesday, students are encouraged to bring in books they no longer want. Drop them off at the Welcoming Entrance, and each student will receive a swap token to pick a new book on Thursday!

International Women’s Day – Author Workshop with Philippa Gregory

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ll be hosting an online author event with Philippa Gregory. She’ll be discussing her new book, Normal Women, offering insights into her work and creative process.
