
These sport qualifications are offered as a one- or two-year course. OCR have designed refreshing and exciting content that’s up to date, engaging and suitable for the needs of students. Universities, Employers and Industry Specialists have been consulted throughout the creation of this course to ensure the right combination of knowledge understanding and skills are required for the 21st Century.
The course consists of units which are internally assessed, as well as examined units which are externally assessed. The first year of the course can be studied as a Certificate worth AS Level. If studied and completed over 2 years you can choose between the Extended Certificate (worth 1 A level) or the Diploma (worth 2 A-Levels).
This course, when combined with other Level 3 qualifications, can lead students either into employment, be it through Apprenticeships or directly, or further study at University. It can lead into the following careers:
PE Teaching, Physiotherapy, Leisure Management, Event Management, Sports Analysis, Sports Coaching.
Extra-curricular sports are offered and students are encouraged to take part in these activities where possible. Wales will have a sixth form football team that will play in the Sheffield league, playing and training throughout the week. This is an ideal opportunity to undertake a personalised education pathway that suits your specific needs and combine it with a football focus. There will also be various leadership and officiating opportunities that will enhance your sporting experiences and skill set.

All Vocational Courses now have an examination assessment element – this MUST be passed to gain a grade overall.
5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 including English, Mathematics and Science. A Sport Qualification would be an advantage and a keen interest in Sport essential. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will be considered on an individual basis.
