Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

The theme for this year’s Safer Internet Day is artificial intelligence or AI. From voice assistants, to chatbots, to the ethics of generative AI we will be exploring how young people can develop the skills and confidence to make safe and responsible choices when using AI.

Wales High School is supporting Safer Internet Day by holding a special Welcome Entrance them,  assemblies to raise awareness and running a competition for students to come up with a creative idea and then use AI as a tool to help realise this idea.

Students can create an ad campaign for a new product, create an original story or turn a poem that they have written into a song. All of these require the student’s creativity with AI being used as a tool rather than a replacement to creativity.

Entries will be judged by our 6th form e-mentors with prizes for the top three.
