Art and Photography – KS3

Art & Photography at Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3 the department provides students with the foundations to build their knowledge and skills upon prior learning at KS2. Students begin by developing basic knowledge and skills focusing on colour theory as well as painting, drawing and 3D Modelling skills. This knowledge and skill is further enhanced via multiple disciplines as students progress throughout Key Stage 3. Students’ artefacts are assessed in relation to the GCSE specification to provide students with a clear vision on how to succeed at KS4 GCSE.

Students have the opportunity to experiment and explore a number of materials including paint, clay, mixed media, sewing and print-making to name a few. Students also have the opportunity to further develop their work digitally using Adobe Photoshop. We believe these skills will enable your child to not only succeed but to exceed their potential in a creative and exciting way. Students are able to attend Art club on a Wednesday after school for an hour whereby students can… explore personal creative expression or teach led activities to build confidence, knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.
