Wales High School recently took part in a nationwide competition led by the Elite Engineering Program (EEP) who are a privately funded education initiative set up to reignite the UK’s status as a world leader in engineering. Pupils and staff were delighted when they were informed that they had beaten off the competition and their video submission was chosen to be the winner.
The school received a LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set and transformer worth over £300 for their robotics club.
Teacher of Mathematics and coordinator Mr. S. Kerfoot said “I can’t tell you how pleased I am, our robotics club can be expanded to allow more pupils to join.” Also Liam Blood, video editor stated “Winning this EV3 core set has been brilliant. I was so pleased when sir to told me the fantastic news.”
Wales High School intend to build on their success by creating a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) club to help all budding young engineers within the school, as well as introducing practical STEM activities within the Maths curriculum.
