English Literature students in Year 12 and Year 13 took part in a ‘Literature of the Country House’ study day at the historic Wentworth Woodhouse on Friday 29th January.
The students experienced a detailed tour of the house in which they were able to discover much of the house’s history, particularly the role it played as a teacher training college in the 1960s. Students then participated in sessions led by schools throughout Rotherham in preparation for their exams in summer and showcased the work they have been doing on The Great Gatsby.
Students were also treated to poetry sessions from current PGDE students from the University of Sheffield and were able to work collaboratively with students from other schools.
The day was a huge success and staff and students enjoyed learning about different types of literature in a grand setting.
