This course is offered as a two year course. Students can opt to take the Single Award (Extended Certificate/1 A Level) or Double Award (Diploma/ 2 A Levels). The units studied as part of this course will provide you with an in depth knowledge of key subject areas in Health and Social Care including:
• Building positive relationships
• Equality, diversity and rights in including personalisation and a person-centred approach to care
• Theories of human development as well as knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
• The importance of health, safety and security including safeguarding
• The importance of nutrition for good health
• Psychology including supporting people with mental health conditions
• Infection control
The high level of knowledge and skills required to achieve this qualification enables you to progress to Higher Education within Health and Social Care, or a related field of study, as well as providing you with a strong basis on which to build within the workplace if that is your preferred future route into caring professions.
You should take this qualification if you want to progress to Level 4 or above in a related field of study. Upon completion of this qualification, you will be able to access Higher Education and progress into a wide range of job roles within the Health and Social Care sector.
A four day educational visit to Disneyland Paris ensures students experience the wider application of their studies beyond the classroom.

This qualification is a mixture of externally assessed examinations and internally set coursework.
