Robyn Dyson is getting ready for the biggest challenge she’s ever faced. The 15 year old Wales High student will be swimming across the English Channel with a team of open water swimmers this month.
Robyn is the youngest member of the team, made up of swimmers from Yorkshire and Dorset, attempting the 21 mile relay across to France. She’s aiming to raise money for her chosen charity – Cardiac Risk in the Young.
“I’ve been doing open water swimming for the past two years and I’ve taken part in a number of competitions, I’ve been swimming in a pool since I was two years old. This is my biggest challenge yet and I can’t wait to get going. I’ve been training for months with a group at Harthill reservoir.
I’m aiming to raise £750 for Cardiac Risk in the Young but I’ve had to change my target after hitting it twice already!”
The Year 10 student is just waiting for the right conditions so she can take the plunge. Her window is open until 21st June and she says the thing she’s worried about most is jelly fish because they can really hurt.
