BIG FEAST SERVED UP AT MAGNA BY WALES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Wales High School recently joined forces with Magna to host The Big Feast for guests including the Mayor of Rotherham and Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne.
Students planned, prepared and cooked a three course meal for over 100 people at the venue to showcase the amazing talents of Wales High School students and display the limitless opportunities that the Magna facility and team can offer the community and surrounding areas.
Youngsters worked with Magna’s Head Chef and front of house team to pick up valuable real life work experience and gain their level two hygiene certificates.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the students and staff that worked so hard to make the Big Feast a reality. This is the second year we have held the event at Magna and for us it’s all about giving our students the chance to work in the real world.
“We’ve had 18 students working with Paul, Magna’s Head Chef, in the kitchen honing their skills. Others have been learning how to wait on and then a group of students kept people entertained with music, art and drama.
“It’s a fantastic night to show what can be achieved by both our students and Magna”
Organiser and Wales High School PE Teacher Luke Pendlebury said…
“Everyone has been working hard both behind the scenes and front of house to make this event work.
“Students had a practice session at school for 80 people and learnt a lot from that before hosting the Big Feast at Magna.
“They’ll take away the communication and teamwork skills and learn what it means to be part of a team which compliments their learning on the GCE course they’re taking.
“All the students that took part now have a level two hygiene certificate that can be used in the future if they decide to work at Magna or any other catering company.”
The event was also an opportunity for students to showcase their arts skills with a number of them performing songs, live art and drama throughout the evening.
