Wales High School Apprentices Celebrated at Awards Night
Two Wales High School Apprentices were recognised for their talent and achievements this week at the annual RNN Apprentice of the Year Awards.
The awards invited employers from across Rotherham to nominate Apprentices that they felt stood out for their achievements and progress.
Sara Williams and Sarah Vaughan from the Catering department were both shortlisted in the Hospitality category and were invited to attend the RNN Awards Ceremony at Wharncliffe Restaurant in Rotherham on Wednesday 8th February.
The two team members received awards for their outstanding work and performance, with Sarah picking up the Highly Commended Award in Hospitality and Sara winning the overall Apprentice of the Year Award.
Sara and Sarah are both studying for a Hospitality Supervisor qualification through an Apprenticeship route, that is delivered by the RNN Group and the school.
“I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to learn and gain new skills during my apprenticeship and was thrilled to be promoted during this time. Working in the school and catering to the staff and children is such a wonderfully rewarding job. I was quite surprised to be nominated but to actually win an award felt amazing and I felt really proud of what I’ve achieved so far in my career”. Sara Williams
The Apprenticeship involves Sara, and Sarah working in the School’s Catering department, gaining experience whilst they study towards their qualification. They are assessed in the workplace and also have to complete assignments and project work.
“Doing this apprenticeship alongside my job has been great. To get nominated for an award was such a confidence boost and just expected a nice evening out. But for us to both come out with an award was amazing. Thank you to everyone that has been involved in my progression”. Sarah Vaughan
