Wales High Media’s Film Festival Success

IMG_3483Wales High Media continues to establish its reputation for producing some of the best student films in the country… And this amazing success is expanding to the rest of the world.

In October, Jack Marsh’s short horror film, The Residence won Best Student Film at the Stockport International Film Festival. And last month, his film also came runner-up at the Youth-On! Film Festival held in Wisconsin, USA.

At the Kids for Kids Film Festival held at the BFI in London last month, Lauren Bellamy’s comedy short, Action Hero won Best Film in the 13-19 Years category as voted by the Youth Jury. Katy Hoggard’s short film noir, Angel for Hire won Best Film in 13-19 Years category as voted by the International Jury and Best Overall Film.

Katy and Lauren were unable to attend the festival but fellow students and actors from both films, Eleanor Smith, Brandon Fletcher and Abigail Harris, collected the awards on their behalf.

And there was further success last month for Katy again when Angel for Hire was awarded the most prestigious award yet, winning Best Student Film at the Boston International Kids Film Festival in the USA.

This follows further success for the school’s much lauded school production, A Fistful of Conkers, which has now screened at film festivals in Germany, Greece, Estonia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Bangladesh.
