Kiveton and Wales Nursery is now based in the Sue Walker Children’s Centre, in the grounds of Kiveton Park Meadows Junior School. We were previously known as Kiveton and Wales Playgroup established in 1966 in the vicarage in Wales. As numbers rose the playgroup was moved to St John’s Rooms on Wales Road, Kiveton Park.
So this year the nursery is also celebrating 50 years of service! In September 2000 the pre-school was registered with Ofsted and we began receiving government funding for three year olds. At this point we only offered two and a half hour sessions, until 2005 when we secured a grant from Yorkshire Rural Community fund that enabled us to offer full day-care for 50 weeks a year.
Wales High School’s Headteacher Mr. Pepe Di’lasio recently took over the running of the Children’s center and we are now pleased to announce we are known as The Kiveton and Wales Nursery and offer a baby room for 0-1’s, a toddler room for 1-2’s and a pre-school room for 2-5’s.
We passionately believe in the ethos of the Early Years Foundation Stage stating that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.
Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow.
Councillor Dominic Beck:
“I was delighted to open the new Kiveton Park and Wales Nursery facility at the Sue Walker Childrens Centre. It is the culmination of a number of years of perseverance that has ensured that childcare provision continues at the Centre, after it was threatened with closure. I wish the new occupants the very best and encourage young parents across the area to take a look for themselves.”
