South Yorkshire School Games

20130703_143718A number of students competed in a cricket tournament at the South Yorkshire School Games yesterday held at Barnsley Cricket Club. The team had to earn the right to be there yesterday and qualified through the preliminary rounds beating a number of Sheffield and Rotherham Schools.

All of the pupils played exceptionally well yesterday and qualified through the group stages beating Bents Green School in Sheffield. The final was eventually contested between Wales and Abbey Schools, both from Rotherham.

After a very tense final Abbey eventually came out winners beating Wales by 9 runs. All of the pupils played exceptionally well and they will now represent South Yorkshire at the Yorkshire Championships in Bradford, with a chance to qualify for the National Championships.
