This course is offered at AS and A2.  A-Level Further Mathematics is designed to broaden and deepen the mathematical knowledge and skills developed when studying A-Level Mathematics and provides a stimulating experience for those who enjoy the subject.

It is suitable for proficient Mathematicians who wish to study courses at University with a high Mathematics content, such as Mathematics , Engineering Science and many more.

Careers in Mathematics, Engineering, Medicine, Computer Science plus many more.
Further Maths is looked upon EXTREMELY FAVOURABLY for access to many degree courses and can often lead to a reduced grade offer for students who study it.

Those studying this course benefit from timetabled Intervention Sessions with specialist teachers, after school revision, classwork and homework support sessions. Visits to Universities to experience Mathematics in a Higher Education setting will be available to all students. Some students will have the opportunity to compete in the Senior Mathematics Challenge held at Sheffield University.

Grade 9 or 8 at GCSE Mathematics.

Students will study Further Pure Mathematics, plus two other modules: Further Statistics and Further Mechanics.  There are two final exams:
• Paper 1: Core Pure Mathematics (50%, 1 hour and 40 mins)
• Paper 2: One question paper on Statistics and one on Mechanics (50%, 1 hour and 40 mins)

Students will study Further Pure Mathematics, plus two other modules: Further Statistics and Further Mechanics.  There are 4 final exams:
• Paper 1: Core Pure Mathematics 1 (25%, 1 hour 30 mins)
• Paper 2: Core Pure Mathematics 2 (25%, 1 hour 30 mins)
• Paper 3: Further Statistics 1 (25%, 1 hour 30 mins)
• Paper 4:Further Mechanics 1 (25%, 1 hour 30 mins)

The Examination Board for this course is Edexcel.
