Wales Raises the Gold Standard!
After last year’s brilliant performance, we weren’t sure we could better it – but we did! We achieved a 100% pass rate at A level and our best ever performance at A*/A grades.
There were some gold medal performances with 10 students achieving straight A*s, A’s or Distinction*’s.
These include David Tune who is off to Durham to study Physics & Astronomy; Elise Gunter, studying English and Psychology at St Andrews; Olivia Meechan taking a degree in Early Years and Primary Education at Sheffield Hallam.
Lucy Macdonald (Maths) and Rae Smith (Masters in Zoology) will also both become undergraduates at Sheffield University.
Emily Whitaker, our Head Girl has, achieved A*’s and A’s and is firmly set on the University of Leeds to study English and History.
Sam Gill, with top grades in all of his subjects is off to Australia to work for the Church whilst Tom Roddis and Abbie Mitchell plan a year out to return to Zanzibar to do voluntary work.
Three of our students who received top grades did so against the background of other significant achievements. Jasmine Melbourne is hoping to become a professional dancer with a top dance company and will be pursuing a degree in Dance Education.
Finally, two top athletes achieved straight A*s and A’s whilst performing in their individual sports at the highest level. Beth Taylor, a national standard heptathlete will become a sports scientist.
Genevieve Justice, who is reigning British outdoor skiing champion in Moguls and English indoor skiing champion will be studying for an MA in Maths at Edinburgh University.
All gold medal performances! We wish all of our students the very best as they move on into their working and academic lives. They will always be part of the Wales family!
