Charity

‘Charity begins at home’ and at Wales High School we foster the idea to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves. Over the years, through the generosity and hard work of our students, hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for charity.

On this page you will see just a few of the worthy causes the students have supported and will continue to do so, for many years to come.

Our regular, annual events such as Jeans for Genes, Save the Children and MacMillan Coffee Morning will be found publicised in the school diary.

The Sixth Form RAG (Raise and Give) challenge, often raising thousands of pounds, much of which is donated to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, has numerous events throughout the year, all of which are managed by our creative sixth form students.

There will be a number of ‘one off’ events throughout the year and we actively encourage student ideas and participation in raising money for charitable causes by coordinating with staff.

One of our more recent accomplishments is sponsoring one of the ‘Bears of Sheffield’, supporting the amazing work of Sheffield Children’s Hospital. JD Bear, named in loving memory of our beloved previous headteacher, John Day.
