Mirsa High School Partnership - 20th Anniversary
Mirsa High School, which is in the Avrig area of Transylvania in Romania, has been in partnership with Wales High School from Rotherham since 1990.  It is one of the longest school partnerships in the UK.

After the revolution in Romania in 1989, there was a great need to support the people in the aftermath of the Communist regime.

Anston Parish Council, which is in the catchment area for Wales High School, organised for essential supplies to be sent to Avrig and this assistance continued for a year.  When the people of Avrig asked specifically to develop a school link with the UK, Anston Parish Council contacted Wales High School and that was the start of a long and fruitful partnership.

Since 1990 a number of activities have taken place between the two schools.  Every year a group of students from one school will visit the other school and take part in a variety of activities, such as workshops and excursions to places of interest.
