Y8 Engineering Extravaganza- Tuesday 17th March

Some of our talented Science, Math and Technology students attended a STEM workshop at the Showroom in Sheffield. Students worked with Civil Engineers to build shelters and some of the students got very wet!

They worked with a team from the Bloodhound car (the fastest car in the world) to build their own air powered cars and raced them.Students also attended a lecture where they learnt about material engineering.

“The day was a great way for students to develop their problem solving skills and work as part of a team” Ioana Taylor, Technology teacher.

3Y9/10 Exploring STEM for Girls

On Wednesday 18th March talented Wales High School STEM students attended an event at the Octagon in Sheffield working with both Sheffield and Hallam University.

The Partial Solar Eclipse

On Friday 20th March Wales High School students took the tennis courts to view the partial solar eclipse.

As if by magic the clouds parted at 9:33 when the eclipse was at its peak and students were able to get an amazing view and some excellent photos.

The next partial eclipse will be in 2026 and the next total solar eclipse will be in 2090 so this really was a once in a life time event!

Here is an amazing photo taken by Jack Parfrement, a Y10 student.
