The school has a House system, which was created to stimulate social, recreational and competitive activities. Every pupil at Wales High School is assigned to one of the four Houses.

School sports clothing displays a distinctive House colour. The four Houses are Rollo (White), Mortain (Black), Warenne (Yellow) and Busli (Blue).

Rollo was the family name of King William, while the other three houses are named after three of his knights.
